I feel ya man! I have the same issue. In fact my post is just a couple down from yours on the previous screen lol. I'm the U-Joint or what??? question. I have the same exact truck as you, 2005 F-250 Lariat FX4. I had a really bad clunking noise also and come to find out, it was my tie rod end on the passenger side. I picked my part up at NAPA for like $180 or something. Did it myself and no problems. I'm pretty sure my sound is a u-joint but so far, no one has commented yet. When you turn sharp to the left, can you feel the clunking noise in your steering wheel?

I've got the same problem. Showed up after the -12 degree weather last week. Hopefully someone has had this in the past and knows how to fix it. I hate to throw parts at it until I know what might be causing it. I haven't checked the hubs yet but I'll do it today.

as far as replacing u-joints on your truck, it CAN be tricky but for the most part its pretty simple. Besides NAPA will charge you around 30 bucks for the part and hell you can do it yourself provided you have the tools. You should check out this Youtube video i found. Between powerstroke.org and youtube, ive learned a lot on basic maint. Let me find the link for you. Its on a Ford explorer but it is the same concept. Its a whole series from removing the drive shaft to replacing the joint. Its a great series. Here it is...
