Brake warning light on

Today when I turned the dial to 4x4 the brake light and alarm came on and won't turn off. I put it back in 2wd and it is still on. When the brake light is on the turn signals won't work either.I have tried pulling the e brake release several times. This happened the other day but shut off when I jiggled the brake release. I know the brakes are good and the e brake isn't on.Is there a sensor that the 4x4 switch could have set off and is it normal for the turn signals not to work when the e brake light is on.

Most times when the brake light is on you are low on Brake Fluid.
