Grinding in front end when braking

I recently started getting a grinding in the front end...sounds like driver side.
It only happens under braking. THe brakes are almost brand new. I'm kind of stumped on what it could be.
Could a wheel bearing do this??? If so why only under braking.
Any help would be great!

i just replaced my front bearing today, had the same problem had a grinding sound and low howl. the bearing is expensive got one at ford here for 614.00 in canada
