P R N D 3 2 1

The indicator needle has slipped/gotten out of adjustment. When in Park it points about to R. When in D it points to 3. Is there a way to adjust the indicator needle, or has something likely broken? I'm not even sure where to begin to look.

what year is your truck?
if you take the dash panel off under the steering column there will be a white plastic screw that has a cable going through it, put it in park and adjust that till it indicates on the P

My truck is an '03 with a 6.0. The only panel under the column is the panel that covers the fuse box. I suppose this "cable" will be exiting the steering column somewhere?
