transfer case

So with the snow, an issue with my transfer case arrouse (sp). When driving down the road, shifting into 4hi seems to work fine, but while driving and shifting back to 2wd, sounds like the transfer case doesn't fully dissengage fully for a couple hundred feet. Seems to be fine shifting in and out while stopped. Anyone have an issue like this to point me in the right direction? Thanks!

Could very well be the transfercase shift motor.

I am a former Mountaineer owner and belong to that forum. Theres a pretty comprehensive thread over there detailing how to take it apart, inspect and repair common issues with it.
The shift motor may be a little different, but the general idea is the same.
