exhaust brake

i cant find anything on the exhaust brake. 04 f350 6.0 when in tow/haul the exhaust brake is supposed to come on when you hit the brakes well mine comes on as soon as i turn the tow/haul on and stays on till i turn the tow/haul off. does anyone know what would cause this

It doesn't have an exhaust brake. Turning the "tow/haul" on just changes the shift points in the trans and if you aren't going a certain speed, it will keep the converter unlocked and make it run higher RPM's.

It will also (depending on the tuner) tighten the veins on the VGT, cause higher boost which is harder for the engine to compress if you are not into the gas pedal. Thus slowing it down.
