4X4 all the time

i have a 2004 f250. went mudding in a rain storm. turned the 4x4 on it went in after we got done went to trun it off and it would stay on and the front end hopped. we removed the motor on the side of the t-case and popped it into 2low. got back home tested the motor it had a open in the wires. put a new motor on. it said that it installs in the 4high postion. did all that and the only thing it did was got from 4 high to 4 low and thats it. messed around with it a wiler nad found the two realyes on the driver side by the battires. they both have both powers in the relay and one ground in each relay. i can manual power up the one relay and the unit will shift from 4low to 4 high then to 2wd. then with the switch on the dash will go back to 4 hi then 4low like it should but will not come back. any one have any thing on this. i might be thinging that the t-case motor shorted out the (gem) 4x4 modual. every form i read had that the 4x4 will not come on at all. thanks Nick
