4x4 not working

Yesterday was the first time in a couple of months since I had to use my 4x4. I was in some pretty slick mud with the back and needed the front. I turned my switch on the dash, light came on, but the front wheels didn't engage. I am new to the electronic 4x4 switch and have always been a mechanical shift fan. So what can I check so I can get it fixed. Any help would be great. Thanks.

Send a message via Yahoo to bigcountrysg
manually lock the hubs in. You most likely have a vaccuum leak.

There is also a solenoid on the pass side wheel well under the hood that actuates the front hubs, that can go bad

Mine is doing the same thing. When I flip the switch the 4x4 light turns on but not front wheels are engaged, But when the switch is flipped the front defrost come on. I have looked at the vac lines and they seem in good shape. I manually turned on the hub locks and then flipped the switch and the fronts engaged. I will be trying, to loosely fit a new set of vac lines and see if that works. If not I will be rebuilding the front hubs. Let me know what turns up at your end and I'll do the same from here.

I had the same problem and had some great troubleshooting support. Check my link below, there is a LOT of info there and some great drawings of the system. Goodluck!
