drag link bar question...?
When I turn the steering wheel, just before maxing out, there is a thump I feel through the steering wheel. I also feel the same thump sometimes while driving, but it's hit or miss when it happens....
I have crawled under the truck and yanked and pulled and twisted on all the steering linkage. The bar that goes from the pitman arm down to the passenger side tie rod end, which I believe to be the drag link, I can rotate a bit back and forth. Had the misses sit in the truck while running and doors shut while I rotated the play in the drag link. She said she could feel when I moved it. So, my questions: Will this create the slight play in steering I have? Is this really the thump I feel? Can the bushing at both ends replaced? OR Do I have to replace the equipment? |

have to replace the whole drag link I had to do mine after it snapped the ball joint at the pitman arm. I had no warning at all it just snapped the ball joint but to answer your question if it is a worn ball joint you will get play in the streeing wheel. it is an easy install about 1 hour. I installed a dual streeing stabilizer after i did mine to reileve the extra loud of my 37" tires. are you lifted? if you are and over 6" they make a kit i believe it is call a crossover to help with ball joint ware.
