NEED HELP WITH VIBRATION ISSUE!! ITS DRIVING ME NUTS
Ok I will start from the beginning. About 4 months ago I bout a slightly used set of 315/70/17 Pro Comp Extreme Mud Terrains from a local guy off craigslist. They look practically brand new. Well I go to a loal off road shop here in jacksonville and had them install a 2.5" levelink kit and mount the tires for me. I had factory rims at the time which are only 7" wide. Well when i left the shop I was getting this terrible vibration around 40-50 mph, the vibration would go down a good bit once I was over 50 mph but it was still there a little bit. Well I left it alone for a little while then took it back to them to have them rebalaced. It still did the same thing. So then I pay to have them rebalanced at Discount tire. The guy there keeps telling me my tires are to big for the rim and they will never balace right. Well it was still doing the same thing so I took it back to Discount tire again and they rebalanced them for me again. Well it still was doing the same thing after that. So I finally took his advice and I bought some 17X9" rims from costco to resolve the issue of my tire being to big for the factory rim. I was really hoping this would fix it, well it didnt. They still vibrated very badly, so I took it back to Costco and had them rebalance them. Still no difference. So PLEASE PLEASE guys give me some advice. Do you think it is the tires or maybe something was thrown out of wack from the leveling kit? I am stuck guys and it is driving me crazy, and my wife is getting pissed at throwing money into the truck and having no reslutls. So please please any suggestions?

what kind of vibration are you getting??? Are you feeling it through the stearing wheel, elaborate? Those procomps will cup real bad too. If they arent pefectly flat and rotated on a regular basis they will fell like you driving down a gravel road all the time. It is also possible that you could have a broken belt in the tire. Why did the guy that was selling them sell them?

Once you alter the driveline angle, you will get the dreaded vibration from 45-50 mph. Even shimming the carrier bearing doesn't seem to help. I'm seriously considering going to a solid, one-piece driveshaft to eliminate mine. It was only after installing my leveling kit that I developed the vibration. Coincidentally, I also mounted up new tires and rims at the same time and thought it might be that, but three sets of tires later (long story) I still have the vibration. Good luck.

I have a 2007 F-350 4X4, SD. and get the same vibration between 45-50. Per the service manage at Gator Ford in Tampa. All Super Duty's have the same vibration at about the same speed no matter what. I have the OEM 20" wheels and I just have to accelerate thru the 45-50 mph range or deal with it. I still feel there is something wrong and the factory should be able to resolve the issue. I just dont know.......Steve

I have that same bouncing feeling at about the same speed as you guys. I thought it had something to do with the rear end lifted with blocks, but now I am not so sure. It might just be the drive line. I bought it with a 6" lift. I really need to get under it and look at the drive line angle and weither its a 2 piece or a single solid one. Any help on this would be appreciated!

Someday I may get mad enough and call Ford. If its a driveline issue. Then their should be a TSB. The was a old TSB where they add a weight to the rear factory reciever hitch. I had it done no difference. Pretty soon will be changing tires. Really think some shims on the carrier might work but the senior tech at Gator ford here in Tampa said that it might transfer or create further problems. Wish someone would chime in that has had the problem and actually found a fix. .....Cant really believe all SD's have the same issue with out a fix from Ford.

For some reason i think mine might be the tires because my truck road fine before these tires. But i guess there is also the possibility of it being the driveshaft because i did the leveling kit at the same time i did the tires. But i dont know i am still leaning towards tire problem. Anyone in jacksonville, fl want to swap tires and rims for a couple of hours to see if that makes a difference
