Most folks blame the carrier bearing since it isn't a very good design and allows for a fair amount of play in the driveline. My thought is that the yoke is getting c0cked up by just a couple of degrees when people install their lifts/leveling kits, thereby causing the driveshaft to bind just slightly, but enough to cause the vibration. I have no proof and certainly no evidence since if I knew that is what is causing it, my vibration would be gone.

I'll see if I can throw together a quick sketch of what I am talking about.

yea man im no expert on the situation but i have had plenty of lifted trucks and some with 40" tires. The only time i experienced a "bouncing" was when the tire was out of round or the belt was broken. Some tires when they are made have more rubber or "thick" spots in them making it really hard to ballance. I had a set of super swamper ssr's one time and one tire took almost 20 oz of weight to balance. NO the rim wasnt bent it was brand new lol. IDK man thats just my best guess, but there are so many things that can cause that. I dont think a bad u joint or drive shaft will make your truck bounce, maybe vibrate but not bouce.

I have noticed recently that I have developed a vibration at the 45-50 mph range also. I have 135K with newer 285/75/16 tires, no lift or level kits. I also get a vibration between 60 and 65 mph but its not as bad ad the lower speed vibration. I have been debating drivetrain or tires, and I think its tires. If I let off the throttle its still there, I figure if it was u-joints/driveshafts etc it would stop once you remove power to the driveline. Its more like a buzzing in the steering wheel, not a bouncing or shaking vibration. It's been ratteling my dashboard too. I'm still not use to Fords!

Differentiating between tire vibration and driveline vibration is a pain in the butt...try this technique..it has worked for me:
Put the vehicle on 4 jackstands at the axles and run it up to the speeds causing vibration.
The jackstands will dampen 70 to 80 percent of the vibration coming from the tires and wheels...it will have less effect on vibration coming from the driveline.
While you have it jacked up,check to see if the tires are out of round by observing the gap between the floor and the tire.

Needless to say ...be careful. Dont exceed speeds you would be driving at and dont do this by yourself .

That's interesting....of coarse you could just lift the rear tires to simulate road driving, correct?

You need to have the axles resting on something SOLID.That will block most of the vibration IF its coming from tires/rotors. I recommend doing both axles,if possible (reduce your risk of the truck taking off on you) Doing this also keeps your driveline angle close to actual conditions.

Update

I just got my truck back from the shop. It was the u-joints causing my vibration. More specifically, I have the CV head style u joint at the front end of the rear driveshaft and it was completely shot. The good news is there is no more vibration, the bad news is $351!!! For that price they replaced all the u joints on the shaft and rebalanced the driveshaft too. Drives great. By the way the Ford dealer would not do this repair. They said they would have to send out the driveshaft to a shop! How can they not even fix their own?
