Question '06 250 rear-end vibration

I have a '06 250 2wd supercrew. Truck has a real noticeable vibration when I take off quickly from a dead stop - just a real quick vibration before it shifts out of low gear then again between 45 and 50 mph. I had the original tires re-balanced, did'nt fix the problem. Had the dealer do a road pressure balance - didn't fix it. Had the dealer check out the complete drivetrain, mounts, driveshaft, rear-end - they applied new shims on driveshaft bracket - I guess there was a tech update out on that. I think they saw that there was a tech update out there and just did that and did not check out the rest of the drivetrain. Service Consultant told me that there is not much more that they can do - that the super dutys just have some vibrations - what? What? Get real. Does this sound like anything that you have heard of with the 06's? Just would like to hear some of your opinions. Love the site. Thanks.

They only time I get that is when I'm towing my 5th wheel or have a heavy load in the back... There is a reason for it under those circumstances in that it's the angle of the driveshaft... Even then I have to be leaving a stop pretty quickly for it to do it and it never does it other then from a full stop..

Unloaded I've never had it shutter/vibrate... Definetly needs to be seen by a different dealer...

Ken....

Yeah, that sounds like a u-joint or possibly alignment of the drive shaft is out. I have seen in the past, axles that had the mounts welded on a little out of place but it's rare. More common is loose U-bolts. When it vibrates between 45-50 how long does that last? And is the truck loaded or unloaded when it occurs?

Thanks for the responses guys! I just got it back from a different dealer today. He informed me to take it back to the original dealer and give them hell for not finishing the job with the tech update for the shims. They are supposed to keep adjusting the shims until the vibration goes away. If they cannot get it that way then they should be replacing u-joints or even the drive shaft. The vibration was when I was empty and when I have to drive at speeds between 45 and 50 it will last as long as I am going that speed, if I get over 50 everything is cool again. It is just a pain - most of the roads in town are 45. I will let you know how it turns out just in case this vibration is reported by any other powerstrokers. Truck On!

Truck has 8500 miles, still under warranty. I will be raising HE!! with the original dealer to get it fixed. Thanks for all of your responses - no one else I know has a 250 to compare these type of problems with. My friends are all still operating half tons. Truck On!
