could it be true that a module like the edge does not leave its own mark like a programmer will, but collected data (boost, speed) are stored by the truck and are seen as out of parameters on inspection and therefore a module can be indirectly detected?

also, could passive regeneration be made better by conserving exhaust temperature and delivering a higher, more constant heat to the dpf? would wrapping the turbo down pipe or ceramic coating it be of any benefit? the turbo's function would be helped by keeping exhaust velocity up with maintaining a higher temp too.
