^^^^ like he said....antennas and "tuning" can get tricky,...or a better way to put it is....a pain in the azzzzz.....lol
I spent a couple days tuning mine....and on a cloudy day, with calm seas....I talked to a guy in Morwenstow,.....

And all I have is a Cobra 29,...with a 4' Wilson tuneable antenna.
