Just picked this beast up, she is ugly, but I got it for cheap. She has a few problems I hope all ya all can help me with. I think she is still pretty. 93 F350, 7.3 non turbo, auto, 241k, and lots of mold and moss. It was sitting for a few years. The new toy will look great when I get some matching tires, a lift, shine the paint up
1) Tranny. Doesnt slip, but shifts smooth, shifts up then right back down,from the gear it came from, shifts up and then back down, up and then back down, it just cant decide what gear. It does this through all the gears maybe 50% of the time, mostly if you just cruise real easy around the speed the it shifts at. If I accelerate hard it might only do this in one gear. Once in over drive, she cruises flawlessly
The overdrive light on the shifter blinks and my tac is off, its at zero when its at an idle. Do I have a couple of bad sensors or maybe need to replace the transmission filter? or maybe I have a rotten tranny?
2) Glow plugs dont work. Someone hooked it up with a glow plug button in the cab and you can here a loud click under the hood. Relay maybe? The only thing I have looked at was seeing if I had power to the glow plugs when the button is pressed, nothing. I havent really torn into it, but would like to know what some common problems might be and where to look.
