You want to be familiar with it for sure. If you are already familiar with the Beretta use it. If you are dead set on a wheel gun I'd suggest .38. A .357 gets to be a bit of a brute if you shoot it alot (and you may, I did when I went through my concealed carry class)
And remember you can run .38 special through a .357 ALL day long with zero problems

. So you can get a .357 and use .38 ammo to save on the wear and tear on your wrist and hand, then load her back up with the stout loads when you're packin' it.
