Here are the basics of bypass filtration - in a nutshell. For starters, because your factory oil filter must filter the entire quantity of oil circulating through your engine every time it "goes around", the factory filter cannot be made too fine, or it would also be too restrictive and result in more frequent opening of the bypass valve and thus greater use of un-filtered oil. That is why most factory filters can only trap particles down to about 25 microns.
In bypass filtration, we take a small percentage of the oil that is passing through the engine - lets say 10% - and pass that through a very fine filter. In the case of the FS-2500, the filter is 99.63% successful at removing particles 2.78 microns and larger. In a short time, all of the engine's oil has passed thorugh the bypass filter. One study by SAE shows that particles in the 4 - 7 micron range cause a large percentage of engine wear.

WOW! So are these easy enough to install that even a girl (with tons of tools) could do it?
I'm very interested in anything that will give my PSD a longer more productive life.
