Maybe do a good check of the glow plug system and try to get a scanner to watch all the different sensors. Fuel pressure checks, exhaust back pressure system checks, etc
Still sounds like a high pressure oil problem, I think I would focus there first.
What kinda oil you got in it, been changed lately? Don't have any thick additives like Lucas or STP in it do you?
