Definitely check the bypass and make sure the fluid is flowing to the stock tranny cooler. My original tanny ran hot like that. I put a trans go tugger shift kit in it and a 40k Trucool aux tranny cooler on it and that made it last another 3 years and 65,000 miles before I finally smoked it. Changing to a synthetic like Amsoil might also be a good idea.
