[Beastmaster]

I was on the highway Friday and after getting past some construction slow-down, I gave it most of the pedal and took it from 45 to 75-80mph pretty quick. I noticed it was blowing a lot smoke, then saw that the check engine light was on. This happened once before (about 3 or 4 months ago) after an extended acceleration, and both times the light went off after about 10mins of driving at 70-75mph. What might cause the light to show up, then off like this? My understanding was that it took a certain number of starts to clear the codes, but in this case it went off only minutes after coming on. Any ideas?
