As far as I know if it goes, it will still go just like the older ones. They are not going to wear out and die gradually. It may cause an intermittent problem at the begining, but when it fails your truck shuts off no matter how fast you're going. The newer ones may last longer who knows? It's hard to say, some guys with 99's are still on their origonal one, and some guys with 03's are on their second or third ones.

It's funny to me (and everyone else) that Ford waited until now 5 years after production of this motor stopped to come out with a "safety" recall on the CPS. This has been a problem and a safety concern since 1994.
