For some reason I think that Ford's are famous for this. I have had this happen on a 1997 ford ranger. The light would stay on and I sprayed the latches with WD and the problem went away. Gotta love the WD-40!!

its the design of the switch.......the plunger on it gets crud and dust on it and starts sticking...
