The battery light on my 2000 Ford Excursion has been on and off for the last two weeks. I put conductive paste on the 2-wire connection - no change. But I heard about a trick last year - I tried it over the last two weeks - you take a blunt instrument and give the alternator a whack - sometimes it takes 2 or 3 - the light goes right out! Any suggestions on what's going on???
PS: the alternator was not harmed in any way in the whacking. I usually hit it on the mounting bolt head...
