Ford has had a number of up grade flashes for there computers-(PCM), The only thing that will set a cam code - is a bad sensor. Take a look at my post 4R100 and print it out to give to your tranny shop. You can also give him this one. The TCC is controlled by grounding the solinoid to turn it on. This is not a true ground it is a pulse width modulated signal, that makes it controlable so they could soften the lockup. I just thought of something. IS YOUR TRUCK BUILT IN CANADA? Look on the drivers door and see where it was made. then let me know. Mike OB
Ok I went down to my shop and printed out the info. I needed to help you. PO741 is a problem with the control circuit only. The test pointed out to find the problem is a circuit test from the PCM to the tranny and test the circuit from the power feed to the tranny, if both are good do an ohm test through the transmission itself. PO741 is only a circuit problem, there is nothing wrong with the transmission - except maybe the resistance is incorrect for the lock up solinoid. If they enter diaonosgtics with a vin entery or go into the star tester they should be able to get factory codes - a code of P1744 indacates torque converter performance problem. When I said that a cam-(KAM) sensor is the only thing that will set that code, I should have said if the connections are good. Good luck MIke OB PS if they still can't find the problem let me know and I'll give you my phone number to let them call me.
