PO471 is a genareic code, It should have another code as well, ask the tranny shop if they have another way to read the codes there should be a code that starts with P1 rather then PO - the P1 codes are factory codes and give more information. Tell them to try and enter the vin number rather then just OBD 11 into their scanner. I will go by my shop tonight and pull up your code and see what it tells me might be the problem. A torque converter code won't stop you from driveing it, It just won't lock the converter and more then likely it will fall back into a perprogramed operating stradige - poor fuel mileage.
