I reckon it depends on what you want to know the most. If you want cool down temp then the closer to the turbo makes sense, if you want and idea of Exhaust temps to keep your pistons from turning to jello than closer to the manifold. I think the area we generally use ( near the connection of manifold and up pipe) gives the best of both worlds.

CSIPSD has I believe 17 gauges, his front seat looks like a ****pit. The more info you have the better you can monitor what's going on under the hood, so I say go for it!!!
