I've been using 2-stoke oil in my fuel for over 20K miles
I like it, and highly recommend it!! 1 oz. per gallon at every fill up
The new ULSD IS junk!! The process they use to remove the sulfer from the fuel to bring it all the way down to 15 ppm, also removes a lot of lubricating properties in the fuel. Everybody with a '06 and older truck should be using some kind of additive at every fill up!
Don't use 2-stroke oil because I said so, but please use something!
I use that because it is made to burn and lubricate.
I don't trust the diesel fuel additives because most of their ingredients are an alcohol base (like Naptha). They are made to evaporate, not lubricate.
The bottom line is
It is your truck!! use what YOU are comfortable with. I(i'm nobody) do recommend using something to lubricate your injectors though. I'm VERY surprised to hear the general consensus on here is that the fuel is fine. IMO that is a bigger gamble than adding 2-stroke oil to the fuel.
