I kept my engine running while I drilled and tapped. I heard it would keep pressure in the manifold so all the shavings would blow out instead of pushing in. I also lubed the bit and the tap so shavings would stick to them instead of pushing into the pre turbo exhaust. Seemed to work fine for me. Good luck
