here in the north...

20 degrees is usually the deal, I don't think you can go wrong pluggin in anytime below freezing though, antigel and winter weight oil is a must for me here (alaska). A lot of times I won't actually plug mine in until it hits single digits though, I have a lot more than a block heater, (oil pan, transmission, battery) and the ol electric bill can get pretty high because of that.
