I researched both before buying my 6.0 and have been working on the 7.3 since 96. What I said was a fact from Ford period. My ford dealer has stated that "MOST" of there head gasket failure is from higher tuned Modded" trucks! Just like anything else you have more hp you use it harder.

As far a leagues better the 6.4 or the 6.0 thats still yet to be determined. If we can get them to keep a $2600 turbo for longer then 6 months then we might have a winner..

I called my Ford sales rep and asked for the info on how many 7.3 were built. Hopefully he will find the info..
