Straw that breaks the camels back?.

Seeing we lost our right to own and carry guns back in 1996 after the Port Arthur Massacre down under, I've often wondered over the years - what would it take - before citizens of the USA would take up their guns against the government in order to protect their 2 A rights?.

I know the 2 A says at the end that this right shall not be infringed.

Just today I read this one on a scrolling news list today where apparently the NRA claims they have the proof the Obama administration is - planning gun confiscations via the back door.

NRA declares government will seize guns
Published time: February 25, 2013 16:35

The National Rifle Association claims it has obtained a Justice Department memo that notes President Obama’s gun control initiatives would be ineffective without seizing citizens' assault rifles and requiring a federal gun registration.

It's not clear how the NRA obtained a memo under the name of one of the Justice Department's leading crime researchers, but its authenticity has not neither been challenged by the White House nor Justice Department.

The NRA is using the memo in advertisements, zeroing in on the statement claiming that the success of universal background checks would depend on “requiring gun registration” and that gun buybacks would not work “unless massive and coupled with a ban.”

The memo also says that requiring background checks for gun purchases would not be enough to address gun violence and that it could lead to more unlawful weapons sales among those not able to pass or not willing to subject themselves to a background check.

Obama has publicly assured gun owners that they would be able to keep their existing assault-style weapons and high capacity ammunition under tighter gun control legislation. However the memo, which was kept private until the NRA got hold of the document, states that exempting already possessed assault weapons wouldn't have much impact on gun violence, since so many rifles of this type are already in the hands of Americans.

In televised advertisements across 15 states, the NRA is now citing the nine-page memo as ‘proof’ that the administration “believes that a gun ban will not work without mandatory gun confiscation.” The advertisements have caused heated discussion about the extent that the government wants to take gun control legislation.

“Still think President Obama’s proposals sound reasonable?” the NRA’s chief Washington lobbyist, Chris W. Cox, says in the ad.

But a Justice Department official told the Associated Press that the memo does not represent administration policy and that it was simply just an unfinished review of gun violence research. Publicly, Justice Department and White House officials have so far refused to answer any questions about the document.

It remains unclear if the memo represents the administration’s standpoint or future plans. But in January, White House spokesman Jay Carney promised that Obama’s gun control proposals would not take away any weapons from law-abiding Americans or require a national gun registry.

The NRA’s publication of the memo puts the Justice Department in conflict with the Obama administration’s public statements on gun control, further adding to the already-heated debate on how to address gun violence in the aftermath of the massacre in Newtown, Conn.

While the NRA has used the memo as a warning of the administration’s plans, Joshua Horwitz, executive director of the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence, said the memo is an analysis about gun violence that doesn’t seem to indicate any sort of legislative plans by the government. The memo includes data on the frequency of mass shootings, gun violence, and the effectiveness of current legislation.

“It doesn’t appear to be a serious discussion of gun violence prevention policy, never mind an expression of administration policy,” he told AP.
And this one also today about compulsory Gun Owners $1M Public Liability Insurance

Gun Control through Liability Insurance: You Need at least $1 Million to Own a Gun - YouTube

Gun Control via liability insurance.

You'll need at least $1 million in coverage to own a gun in New York.

A bill was introduced in the State Assembly by Felix Ortiz (D-Brooklyn) that would require citizens of New York to acquire liability insurance as a condition of gun ownership.

Bill S2353 will require all gun owners in NY to obtain and "continuously maintain" insurance coverage of at least $1 million, or they will suffer "immediate revocation of such owner's registration, license and any other privilege to own" a firearm.

If the citizen fails to obtain the insurance, then by simply owning the firearm, they will be in violation of the law. It is estimated that the required $1 million liability policy would cost $2,000 annually.

If the bill is passed, gun owners will have 30 days to get the insurance.
***snip***
Read it all at the link.

So reading these articles got me to wondering....

What would it take for the citizens of the USA to finally crack and take up arms / join a militia etc to stop ANY Govt from actually infringing the 2A rights to bear arms?

What is your own personally jump off point - where, you say NO and mean it and are prepared to shed your claret to make your point?

Licensing?

Gun Registry?

Semi & Auto Weapons Bans?

The proposed $1M Public Liability Gun Owners insurance estimated to cost about $2K a year to renew?

Having to keep them under lock and key in an approved firearms safe in your house? (As we currently have to).

Just curious - how this will all play out and whether the old NRA Charlton Heston Line of "They can have my guns when they pry them from my cold dead hands" is kinda close to peoples hearts, or when push comes to shove like it did down under ya'll will go pussy up like we did without a fight and hand em over for destruction?

Whats everyone's straw on the camels back jumping off point when people say "No Way Hose" and go all Chris Dorner on the Feds sorry ***?

Anyone?

Just like Hitler did, it will come only a little at a time. Not enough at any one time to raise the American revolutionary spirit from the dead. That will only come after our liberties are all gone and people finally realize what liberals are truly trying to do. Which is disarm the American people so that we can then be controlled and a "new world order" can be established where all their ideals can then be put into place without fear of the people. The they will finally show us stupid, ignorant, and unenlightened people that their way is better and they know better for us than we ourselves do. If we would just let them rule us, we would finally see the error of our ways.

LOL, not at all, it just gets us "yanks" fired up. The current President is trying to take away our constitutional rights and it is pissing off a lot of good people, including our law enforcement officers.

I see you have the same junk keyboard as me - the N key located where the J one is s'posed to be!

Damn that might get me banned! Heck I saw it somewhere and just copied - I can't claim it as my own.

You know the writing for this was on the wall a long time ago.

An interesting quote from Slick Willie!

I've only one question.

Who the frick IS in charge of this crazy damn world post 2000?

Obviously Slick knew what was going down.... and tried to warn the world...

I heard it said once that Monica was Israel's highest placed spy, code named "Mega" (After the Mega Mouth Whale) and that it referred to a particular oral talent she had that just about no man could resist.... and that to this day no one could work out who "Mega" really was!

Now I'm on a tangent.

Jus Sayin,

I'd love to know who pulls all the strings at the end of the day.

And when did it all REALLY start going downhill?

Friday, November 22, 1963?

I can tell you that it worries the heck out of the rest of the world too!
