vehicle gun safe

ok.... it really doesn't have much to do with just weapons.. but I have been thinking about how handy it would be to have a safe that I could bolt down in the back of my EX... I"m talking about the open space that is behind the third row seat.. I don't know if anyone has this or not.. I just think it would be handy to have for when I do have anything with me besides my pistol I could put it inside and lock it

Just wondering if anyone knows of any kind out there...

I swear I have seen exactly what you are asking about but I can't place where I saw it. Maybe on one of those cheesie truck shows on television.

It bolted down and had a slide out drawer that locked. If I remember I'll post back.

Well there are a couple options I think what your looking for is something like this, TruckVault Secure Storage Solutions :: The World's Leading Manufacturer of Secure Vehicle Storage Solutions
Or there is something like this, it goes in your center console, I have one in my truck. Well made, very handy. MUCH cheaper than the "trunk vault" Auto Vault, Gun Safe, Laptop Safe, Hand Gun Safe, Gun Vault, Portable Safe, Safe Manufacturer - Console Vault™

Might be able to find part of the center console that is in the Cabelas model trucks. There's lockable storage in the console. The lock is keyed to my truck's key. Probably isn't as strong/sturdy as the other vehicle gun safes pictured above but might be a simple and cheap upgrade.

Definitely isn't a bad idea. It's pretty deep too. When the lid's closed, I only have like 3-4 inches of space between the safe's lid and the center console lid. Not sure if there's a part number or not for this part of the center console or not. I like the long gun storage under my back seat better. Padded and keyed to my truck's key. Wonder why Ford stopped making the Cabelas trucks.

Puchased a heavy duty lock box (not fire proof) with high security lock/keys several years ago from either Lowes/Home Depot and drilled two bolt holes thru the back side (leaves the door on top) and bolted it just behind the console on my CC (position so front seats can be slid back) on the drive shaft hump. Anchored bolts into steel Rivnuts in the floor but could be nutted on the underside also. Mine is approximately 12" long X 12" deep X 8" wide. Used key lock rather than combination dial as can reach back from drivers seat and open/close
