I think you'd be pretty interested to know how many people don't give a crap and take their guns in anyways. It's concealed, who's gonna know?

Very good point

Is this a state law where you live? I am unaware of any federal law stating you cannot consume alcohol while carry a firearm.
i believe so, if not a law i know it would be highly looked down upon to get stopped by the law while over the limit and concealing a gun, but yes, i believe its the law that you are not to over indulge in adult beverages and carry.

this is a very interesting law and yall have raised some valid points, my view is just that hopefully the gun-toters are responsible, i know that if your in a place that serves alcohol, especially if that place has a rough history, sometimes it is a comfort to have a concealed carry weapon at your side, but having said that, the person that is carrying should be responsible and NOT drink, alcohol and guns is just a bad mix, it all comes down to being a responsible gun-toter, now, i am not 21 yet and therefore do not have a cc license, and so cannot and do not carry at all, this also means i dont drink, at all, but when i do turn 21 and get it, if i do drink at all, the weapon will not be anywhere near me, it will be locked in the safe, that is if i do drink at all

Roger that. I know Kansas has a law that specifically mentions alcohol consumption and concealed carry.

Florida, though, does not.

Florida law also goes so far to say that alcohol cannot be an issue when relating to lawful self defense or protecting your property.

I will be more than happy to provide direct link to Florida state statutes for any who would like.

its still somewhat strict here in tx atm.
So why does it matter if the gun was legal or not? If some dumb hothead shoots someone don't you think the anti gun people will use it to their advantage even if it were not legal?

The point is that if it's legal to pack then a law abiding person may be able to prevent something like the Libby’s shooting in Texas!! How many hot head guys have a knife in their pocket at the bar when they get drunk, how often do they harm someone with their weapon, and why should a gun be any different? Same drunk gets in his car and drives it through the bar wall killing people (as a wrecker driver I have been to such a seen) do we ban the car because some drunk guy used it as a weapon? Whatever happened to personal responsibility in this country?

Here in Alaska we don’t need a permit to conceal weapons, if we are legal to have them we can hide them all we want. Bars are off limits to weapons still but restaurants that serve booze are fine here.

When I know I am going to a bar. I usually leave the firearm at home.

In Michigan, they have a .02 bac level for when you are carrying a firearm. That is like having one beer, one shot, one 8 oz glass of wine.

I have never had a problem going to or from a bar. I never had a major problem working a bar as security when I did.

I see no reason to allow firearms in bars. Lets not confuse a bar with a place of bussiness that is a resteraunt that serves alcohol.

Personally, I am a happier than sober type drunk

When i took my CC last year in MN, they said there are no laws against drinking and carrying, but you'd better not whip out your weapon and shoot someone. If you do it'll be the dirty defense lawyers that will be going after you, and not the state. I carry into bars and what the other people don't know, won't hurt em. I think more states should allow C & C because then if you think you are going to rob someone or try to beat em up you might think twice if there is a chance they are packing. I remember after the V-tech college shootings that college students were wanting to carry just in case. I thought that was a great idea and couldn't believe that college kids would actually support guns on campus.
