Bunch of BS!!!!

Ok, so I'm fairly new to the Jacksonville, NC area so I went to a local gun store the other day to look for a new pistol. While there I asked what was the requirements to buy and this is what I found out. I was told you had to have a pistol purchase permit to buy any pistol, not a big deal or so I thought. I went down to the local sheriff's office to pick up the packet and in it was the section that said since I'm a United States Marine I have to have a signed letter from my Commanding Officer pretty much given me permission to buy. Obviously I freaked out, which didn't do any good because all I was told was then don't buy. So I said hell with it and applied for a concealed permit, which obviously had to have a letter from my CO given me permission. At least with the CC I only have to do one letter and not one every time I want to buy a new pistol. Like I said in the title some BS!!!

yeah, the laws here for concealed carry and stuff can be pretty odd at times. We are actually one of the strictist states out there. Why didnt your CO give you a signed letter??? thats BS right there./

Oh it wasn't that I couldn't get the signed letter. A matter fact I just turned in my packet for the concealed. Anyway, what I was getting at was if I was a civilian there wouldn't have to be any letter to be signed. As a civilian they don't require a letter from an employer...

And to think that you are sworn to defend this garbage. Kind of ironic.

I've been out of the military for many years, but I would think the rules still apply that you're not considered a resident of that state. Your situation may be their way of getting around the resident laws.

It's not a state law, it's a county one. I can go the county over and not have to worry about it....

That sounds like some goofball hoops that Taxachusetts would require,I am surprised that N.C is that way.
