ya you could do that.. you would get more air, but it still wont flow the cfm of the diy tymar.. and on a early 99 you can do it liek the 99.5 with a piece of straing pipe 5" long and thr filter sits on a slight angle this set up will likely cost ya around the same as a k&n pannel filter
