Alternator died
Hey guys,
I was on the tollway at 10pm when the ABS light came on. Thought it might be a false code so at the next exit I pulled over and shut the truck down to pull the code and restart. Yeah, bad idea...
She didn't even try to turn over. Got lucky and a powerstroke tow truck pulled up shortly. We used my cables connected to both batteries and got enough juice to start up. I was still 15 miles from the house. By the time I got home I had the airbag light on, dome light was gone, headlights were dim and about to go...
Ok, now the question. Any chance that running at such low voltage did additional damage? Also, anybody know the best and cheapest place to get a new alternator is going to be? I would like to get the largest available because I do put a sizeable load on the system. XM radio, laptop computer along with the fire department ligthbar and siren...
Thanks for any help!
