I have been smelling a fuel leak on my truck for a few days, and tried to track down the source. I have never changed the fuel filter on this truck, so dont know if this is the correct location? Top part of engine, in the middle, a fuel line enters into a plastic cannister. The top of the cannister has a waffle iron type appearence to it. The fuel is seeping out of the top. I unscrewed the lid, but no filter is inside, and just a rubber gasket/o-ring to seal the lid. I re-installed the lid and tightened it as much as I could, but I still see fuel seeping out. Now, this might not be the only location, but there definitely is a leak. What is this cannister, and is a new gasket/o-ring, probably all I need? The truck runs fine, with not hiccups at all. Hopefully someone will reply to this quickly, as I would like to continue my troubleshooting today! The manual that come with the truck, doesnt say anything of much help, just consult your ford mechanic!

that is your fuel filter housing , need to get a filter and put in it before any debris gets to those injectors, the filter will come with new o-rings and make sure its snug , dont have to kill it tight if you know what i mean
