I would just change it out. Like you said...It is better to make the repair at home. Plus if you try to make the repair on the road the motor will most likely be hot when you go to do it. I would rather stick my arms in a cold motor than a hot one.

Oh and do not forget to get another cps to throw in the glove box for the next time.
