Both are normal conditions with the extremem settings, the check engin light can be fixed with a map sensor fooling device from black cloud or Dfuser.....as far as the shifting, it could be detrimental to the trans over the long haul if you drive it too often that way just to have it there, but turning it up and just running it hard from time to time shouldnt hurt a thing...
