I just had my 08 Crew Cab Lariat tinted on the front windows. I spoke with 2 tinting shop companies and did considerable research over the INTERNET. What I understand is the 35% rear window and 50% front window rating is 35% of light transmitting through the rear windows and 50% through the front windows. I put a 30% tint on my front windows only in Florida. That is allowed by Florida law. According to both shop owners if I tinted the rear doors and window (crew cab) that I would have difficulty seeing through the windows at night in rural areas without street lights. I tow a boat and put in at boat ramps at night and the shops recommended I did not tint my rear doors or rear window (I already have factory privacy glass on the rear doors and rear window.) I used a Llumar ATR 30 tint. It is supposed to be one of the best available and has a lifetime warranty. Bottom line is if you have factory privacy glass on the rear doors and rear window do not tint them if you need to see clearly in the dark in rural areas. I would also strongly recommend you do some research and find a good reputable tinting company in your area that has been in business for a long time. There is nothing worse than a shabby window tinting job!!
