basically - if you leave them out - you will be exposing the slideout awnings to debris and weather, most importantly the sun - if there aren't any slideout awnings, then the slides will be what collects the debris and weather and then when you slide the slides in it could damage the seals keeping all that stuff out...
but keeping them out does make it easier to manuver inside the trailer around while being parked..
