Research each truck well and make the decision based on that. Despite what you will hear from many, the Dodge Auto is a good trans but so many beat on it without upgrading it so it gets a bad rep. Having a new lift and injector pump is a big plus on the Dodge. Don't allow a lift pump problem to get bad, when it dies it taks the Injection pump with it. The VP44 pump is capable of lasting a long time if the LP is working properly. Put a FASS or Walbro pump on it and reliability goes way up. The Dodge having a performance converter is a huge plus, and will make all the difference modded. As for the Ford yes if it is long bed it will hold a 4x8 sheet....all longbeds will. If you plan on going the performance route down the road it will get expensive vs the Cummins. The Ford is built better than the OLD Dodge trucks meaning the 02 down. But, again, when people don't take care of things they will deteriorate.

Um, 94-98 12v had the best injection pump ever made, p7100, so forget that idea. The lift pump and injector pumps problems in 24v don't mean the engine itself isn't good.
