The grey pieces come off by pulling them. Try to do it evenly and be careful with the side closest to the filter housing. THe plastic is thinner. Just bought a new one as the dealer broke mine. Didn't feel like going through the BS of getting it replaced, and just spent the $10 at another place to get it.
In the PDF ending in "210" it states that on the quick connect side, you MAY have to take the the fitting off at the filter housing by unscrewing it...
then removing the fitting from the line, if stuck.
The "209" pdf has an image that shows how the grey connectors work.
