8000lbs in the sand!!!

Marty already knows about this b/c I called him last weekend to get some info from him on tire pressures. The g/f and I went to Ocean City, MD last weekend to visit with her grandmother (Nana) and have some fun. On Monday we decided to go out to Assateage State Park and drive around and look at the Mustangs that run wild out there. So we get there and I wanna drive on the beach. So, after a $70 pass that is good for 12 months, I'm ready to go. I aired the 35's down to 25 PSI. (The park rangers recommend 15 psi but I thought that was a little too low.) It took me FOREVER to air 'em down, like 45 mins to do all four tires! Finnally, I get 'em to 25psi and into the sand we go. With my 8000+lbs, the truck was AWESOME!!! I was a little weary about stopping knowing that as long as your moving forward your gonna be OK. Well, I could have stopped if I wanted to, that thing just floated over the loose sand. I was actually expecting it to be a little more packed down but it was light and fluffy sand about 4-6 inches deep. I had some problems before in sand like this with my TSL Radials but my BFG AT's were great. We drove all the way down to the Virginia State border (10.2 miles) and back on the beach at around 20-30mph. Brisco just kept going; bouncing on every bump and powering up some little rises in the sand.

If your going to be doing some sand driving this summer, air 'em down to at least 25 psi and make sure you have a good sand tire like the BFG AT's.

Requirements for running on Assateauge State Park are the following:
4wd vehicle, have a shovel, four blocks of wood, at least 15psi tire gauge, one tow strap, appropriate jack, something to provide a base for the jack, and not be over 10000lbs GVW. (There were a few other requirments but these were the major ones.)
