i run a 10.5k hydro on my jeep, ive saved more ppl that run electrics then i can count.
i cell tell you a few facts.
being stuck hub deep will add half the weight to the truck. your truck it 7500 at a min. do the math.
an electric winch, on a long heavy pull will heat up and you will have to stop and let it cool. it puts a heavy load on the batteries and alternator.
a hydro only draws 3 amps for the solenoids, they have 100% duty cycle. that means you can do a max pull the hole time and not have to worry.
the only down side to a hydro that i have seen is that you can not turn the wheel and run the winch at the same time, unless you have a hydro pump that is designated to the winch.
anything else you wanna know about mine just ask. i know mile marker makes a 12k. in my opinion that would be the best winch for a big truck
