Fire Apparatus

Being a former firefighter (Apparatus Operator/Engineer) of 8+ years I was curious if there were any other firefighters on this forum that know diesel powerplants well.

I just really miss the power and sound of the old 2 cycle Detroit Silver 92's (6V92 & 8V92's). They had all the power you could ask for and took a beating. Too bad federal emissions standards killed those engines.

I'm too up on current large size powerplants these days. I know of some Cummins, CAT & Detroits but I've been out of the loop for a few years now due to being injured on the job. I know the C12 and C15 are pretty decent from CAT but I'd still much rather have an old 3406B/C any day of the week.
