I am having similiar issues on my 2000 F-250 with 182k miles. The difference is in my stock program I was having the same hard shifts you are in 2-3. However, I noticed with the edge evolution that I just installed the problem goes away with the level 1 tow program. When I am in level 2 or 3 the 2-3 hard banging shifts come back. I talked with edge yesterday and they recommended bumping up the shift firmness. I tried setting this to 10 for 2-3 shifts on level 2 last night and it seems to shift must better now.
On a side note I know the programmer is just masking the shift problem and eventually I am going to have some real tranny issues. It would be great if someone could shed some light on what is actually occuring on the 2-3 shifts as described in the original post.
