Okay Fisherford, you helped get me motivated. I did my truck last year and my wife's Escape two years ago a few months after we purchased it. It needed a really good cleaning up and I needed to wash the chromies up after last years use and sitting in the garage for the last 6 months. (Wintertime in Utah with road salt is too harsh on them)
Anyhow, I gave it the full detail job yesterday. Washed it, clayed it, then dried it off and put on Meguiars #16. For the rims, I used a heavy Meguiars compound on the inside and Meguiars ScratchX on the chrome followed by Mothers Chrome Polish. Here are the results. Maybe, (long shot) we'll have everyone's cars and trucks polished up like this. BTW, the clay job could be done a couple times per year...it really doesn't take that long and the results are fantastic. It's almost like getting a new car again, except better. When you get your vehicle brand new, it isn't this clean nor the paint this smooth. The problem is that I now have to do my truck...it's jealous. That is the work of the Escape x 3 or 4.
As a plug to the Meguiar's forum...I'd highly recommend it if anyone has any questions. Lots of good information there.
Here's my pictures taken this morning.
