'94 f250 solid axle conversion

It looks like a panhard rod was scabbed in when ifs with leaf springs was swapped out for a solid axle on sons f250. Leaf springs remain installed.
Is the panhard rod required to locate the front axle suspended from leaf springs?
The panhard rod appears to be binding and preventing the suspension to compress, limiting compression travel when dropping off our driveway curb.
(.5"~.75" max travel observed)
I would like to try testing with pan rod removed but am wondering if springs alone are good enough to laterally locate the front axle?

Your in-puts are welcomed and thaks in advance
