What exactly was the code?
1/8 tank? That is NEVER a good idea. I would put 10gal in the tank. Turn the key on, listen for the pump to come on. AFter 15-20 sec, it should shut off, turn the key off and back on every 20 seconds for about 3-4 times. Open the fuel drain valve on the bowl and turn the key on, fuel should be rushing out. Turn key off, close valve and try to start the truck.
Also, check the batt voltage to make sure you didn't drain them trying to start it.
